Visy Paper Smithfield

Power Factor Correction
Installation of 11Kv , 6 Mvar Power Factor Correction unit including detail design and construction of concrete support plinth, civil works, electrical works and the fabrication and design of steel access platforms and fencing to all relevant Australian Standards.

High Voltage Transformer Bulk Concrete Works
Detailed earth works including geotechnical report and soil testing prior to start to test for any hazardous substances.
  • Supply and placement of concrete to Supply Authority design and specifications which entailed excavation adjacent to existing HV installation with all attendant safety controls.
  • Supply fabrication and installation of new overhead 33Kv bus bar support structure.
  • Supply and installation of underground conduit works and earthing grid to enable rapid changeover from existing to newly placed 33 /11 Kv Supply Authority Transformer.
  • Fabrication and installation of access handrails.

Alinta Trs And Prs

Supply and installation of the Electrical and instrumentation component, including instrument impulse lines, for the upgraded Gas Reticulation System for Greater Sydney. This involved the procurement and certification of a large number of electrical components and fixtures to ensure compliance with Hazardous Area installation standards, together with a significant investment in training for our installation team.

Upon completion of the 2 major sites in this upgrade, we were contracted to assist in a number of other projects in conjunction with Alinta, to share our proven knowledge and efficient project completion strategies with Alinta trade staff.

BP Solar Australia

Site investigation of power reticulation including upgrading to allow the expansion of client facilities to encompass future automation requirements as well as capacity for a new R&D facility to trial new processes and control strategies.
Included in above was a site wide audit of power use, fabrication of new distribution boards and the supply and installation of electrical services for a major chiller upgrade.

Sanitarium

Fabrication and installation of a new compressor MCC and installation of new 1600A circuit breaker for MCC. Supply upgrades to allow larger compressor installation for increased production capacity, at Sanitarium’s Cooranbong site.

Visy Industrial Packaging - Villawood

Upgrade and installation of latest advanced injection moulding machines for the production of storage containers. Disconnection, relocation and reconnection of existing moulding and manufacturing lines within the plant. Bass Electrical worked within Visy’s needs and time constraints to meet deadlines. This resulted in minimal disruption to production. Bass provides ongoing electrical, engineering and maintenance support to Visy.

Unilever

Bass provides ongoing assistance to Unilever with continuous electrical upgrades covering production improvements; safety upgrades; data acquisition; light and power improvements; and fault rectification.

Cantarella Coffee Roasting Plant

Installation of complete turnkey roasting/packaging plant, sourced from Probat Germany. Interface the existing plant services and inloading/packaging system with this new plant. Provision of ongoing electrical maintenance support.

Inghams Ingleburn

A large extension to the existing factory, including light and power. New process equipment and a string of transfer conveyors to minimise product handling which in turn improves hygiene and assists in eliminating product contamination.

CSR Bradford Ingleburn

Bass worked with CSR Bradford on this large-scale project to install a Glass Wool Insulation line, alongside the existing line. Bass was responsible for the supply and installation of a new main switchboard and various motor control centers within the plant, to control the different processes. Bass also installed a 1500Kva transformer to power the process.

A substantial amount of the work involved working closely with other trades and international engineers, to rebuild the furnace and forhearth to facilitate the new line.

Primo Chullora

Work carried out to improve efficiency and process speed and to increase output. Installation was designed for a refrigerated and controlled atmosphere; Installed additional 1500KVA Transformer to provide power to new main switchboard and process control centre; engineer and install Primo’s new vacuum packaging process equipment; Alterations to existing bacon room; Supply light and power to new factory extension - spice room; Installation of Travelini machines (salami ageing equipment) and modify lighting and power to existing refrigeration dispatch warehouse to accommodate Primo’s dispatch process.

CSR Gyprock – Wetherill Park

Installation of a new 1500 KVA transformer to shed load from existing supply. This project involved coordination of HV installers and operators, working over the Christmas period to reduce production down time.

Pilkington Glass Wetherill Park

Toughening glass furnace. The installation required 2 new 1500 KVA Transformers and new main switchboards to supply toughening glass furnace equipment.

Boral Bricks Badgery’s Creek

Design and install new HV Switchroom and Switch Gear to upgrade the current system. The job involved 2 new 2000KVA transformers. In addition to all electrical works, Bass coordinated the building of the new switchroom and all instrument installation. Timeliness was a factor as power was turned off while work was carried out.

Unilever – North Rocks

Supply and installation of complete emergency shutdown system for aerosols filling plant.
Installation modification of production machinery for the site, including materials handling, batching, filling, packaging and dispatch systems; Site power reticulation modification to allow site subdivision; and fabrication and supply of PLC MCC control cabinets for aerosols and cleaning liquids, filling, packaging and information systems.

Visypak – Kings Park

Install new high voltage switchgear and feed for new HV compressors; Supply and install new operator feedback system (site wide); Fabricate and install new bin tipper MCC and field wiring; Supply and install new control system for water temperature regulation to production machines; Supply and install new quality assurance testing benches; Supply and install upgrade submain feed to 3 production lines; and disconnect and document 2 complete lines for transport and reinstallation in Adelaide and New Zealand.

Install site-wide power and control requirements for the production and compression treatment of coal seam methane for the Sydney Gas Market. This incorporated incoming site feeder through to analytical instrumentation of final product.

Light and power design and installation for corrosive goods store extension; Modifications control upgrades to 3 palletisers; Design and installation of external grounds floodlighting; and modifications and safety upgrades to bottle fillers.

Kimberly Clark Line 8 - Ingleburn

Installation and commissioning of a high speed disposable diaper production line for Kimberly Clark Australia. A fast-track project requiring twenty-four hour installation and commissioning. This project required a large crew working in a relatively small work area to achieve success. This is the fifth major installation Bass have undertaken on this site in the last seven years.

Boral - Emu Plains

Project was a scheduled shutdown to improve the production process in Boral concrete tile plant. Installation and commissioning of curing chambers, finger car and mixer. Electrical works under the supervision of Hatch Engineering. The project was successfully completed and Bass now provides engineering support to this facility.

Uncle Tobys - Project Dove

Electrical process and instrumentation services associated with new cake making plant including batching, mixing, baking and packing of finished cooked snack products. PLC system utilising Allen Bradley PLCs and touch screens, all PLC programming and associated engineering by Bass Electrical to the satisfaction of Uncle Tobys’ engineer, Mr Alan Orlina.
